People often ask me when these 2 bridges were built and for the life of me, I just can’t seem to remember! So I’m posting them here, complete with dates + photos:
Photo #1:

1938 Bridge is built over the San Lorenzo River in Felton. Prior to this, people drove across the Felton Covered Bridge. See Conference Dr. heading to Mt. Hermon Park at right, above.

1972 The By-Pass Rd is built. This is now Mt. Hermon Rd. It goes behind Safeway and also over E. Zayante Rd. and the old RR tracks.

My family moved to Felton in the early 30’s so I have many memories. I and my 5 siblings all went to Felton Grammer school.. I graduated from there in 1947,,, That was the last year it was open,.THere were only 2 kids in the graduating class that year, And yes I rmember the old tennis court next to the school and next to that was the Community Hall. That is where we had our school plays and special progams. I have family still living in Felton on Valley Drive. . Also have 9 relatives buried in the Felton Cemetery. Such a special place in my memories.

Bobbie, thank you SO much for sharing your wonderful memories. It’s great to gather these tidbits together and share them on my blogs. If you or your family on Valley Dr have any old photos they’d be willing to scan and send me, I’d love to have them to post with your comments and recollections. Either way thanks for sharing! ps my hubby and I plan to be buried in Felton Cemetery, so it’s nice to know we’ll be in good company 🙂
